Assessing your teeth and bite
We assess your teeth, bite, and oral health together before deciding whether to recommend Invisalign.
What we look for
We may review X-rays, tooth-root position, crowding, spacing, and wear patterns. We also look at whether tooth position makes cleaning difficult.
Missing teeth and implant plans
Tell us about missing teeth or future implant plans. We’ll consider tooth position and the space needed for the replacement tooth.
When a specialist may be needed
Severe crowding and some other orthodontic conditions may be beyond the treatment we provide. We’ll discuss a referral to an orthodontic specialist when needed.
The technology behind Invisalign
Digital scans and planning software help shape a series of aligners for your teeth.
iTero digital scans
An iTero scanner builds a 3D model of your teeth. This digital impression provides a starting point for planning your treatment.
ClinCheck treatment planning
ClinCheck is Invisalign’s software for mapping proposed tooth movements in stages. It lets the doctor review and adjust the plan. A simulation helps explain the proposal; it doesn’t guarantee the outcome.
SmartTrack aligner material
SmartTrack is the flexible plastic used in Invisalign aligners. Each aligner is shaped for a stage of treatment and applies pressure to guide tooth movement.
SmartForce attachments
SmartForce attachments are small, tooth-colored shapes bonded to teeth. They give aligners surfaces to push against for certain movements and are used when needed for your plan.
Questions About Invisalign
We primarily use digital scans.
- A traditional impression (a mold of your teeth) may occasionally be needed for the Invisalign laboratory.
Your visit schedule depends on your progress.

Retainer options can differ in material durability, number of retainers, and cost. Options may include:
